2015 ITA All-Tournament Team Announced for
ITA Division I National Men's Team Indoor Championship
Oklahoma sophomore Alex Ghilea voted Most Outstanding Player
SKILLMAN, NJ (Feb. 20) - Oklahoma's Alex Ghilea clinched the final two wins for the Sooners at fifth singles to give Oklahoma its first national title and earn the Most Outstanding Player honor at the 2015 ITA National Men's Team Indoor Championship, hosted by the University of Illinois at Midtown Athletic Club in Chicago, IL.

Ghilea, currently ranked No. 63 in the ITA Division I National Singles Rankings, went 4-0 at fifth singles and 2-2 at third doubles during the week. In the championship match, he and partner Florin Bragusi battled back from 5-2 down to win at No. 3 doubles and move the Sooners back into contention for the doubles point they would eventually win. In the semifinal, Ghilea ripped off 11 straight games to defeat Baylor's Mate Zsiga and capture a 4-1 win for Oklahoma.
Teammate Dane Webb did not lose in Chicago, going 3-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles, to earn an ITA All-Tournament Team selection at No. 3 singles. Webb was the first player off the singles court for the Sooners in three of their matches and dispatched back-to-back Top 30 opponents in the final two matches, registering a 6-0 set in each match. Oklahoma's Axel Alvarez was the third Sooner named to the ITA All-Tournament Team for his performance at No. 2 singles.
Only USC's Eric Johnson was named to the ITA All-Tournament Team in both singles in doubles. The senior did not lose a set at Midtown Athletic Club, going 4-0 at 4th singles and 3-0 at 2nd doubles. USC garnered four selections in all, the most of any team.
Georgia's No.1 pair and Baylor's third doubles duo were also selected to the ITA All-Tournament Team. The Bulldog tandem of Ben Wagland and Austin Smith recorded wins over the No. 1, 11 and 12 doubles pairings in the country. For the Bears, Vince Schneider and Felipe Rios only lost seven games en route to a 3-0 record during the event.

This is the eighth annual ITA National Men's Team Indoor All-Tournament Team. Voters included the head coaches from the 16 participating teams. Past winners of the Most Outstanding Player award are Virginia's Somdev Devvarman (2008), Virginia's Sanam Singh (2009), Virginia's Michael Shabaz (2010), Virginia's Alex Domijan (2011), USC's Steve Johnson (2012), Virginia's Alex Domijan (2013) and Ohio State's Peter Kobelt (2014).
About the ITA Division I National Men's Team Indoor Championships
The ITA Division I National Men's Team Indoor Championship is held annually each February. The men's event began in 1973 and will be held for the 41st time in 2015. The event features 16 participating teams: the 15 schools who won both of their matches during the ITA Kick-Off Weekend and the host school. The tournament is held over four days, and begins on Friday with first round play, followed by quarterfinals on Saturday, semifinals on Sunday and the final on Monday.
