Top-Ranked USC, Duke Open ITA National Team Indoor as No. 1 Seeds

SKILLMAN, N.J. - The USC men and Duke women, each ranked No. 1 in the Campbell/ITA College Tennis Rankings since winning the 2009 NCAA team titles, take their top ranking to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships.

Follow the Leader:For the men, following USC is (in order): Ohio State, UCLA, Tennessee, Baylor, Virginia, Georgia, Texas, Stanford and Kentucky. On the women's side, Duke is followed by: California, Northwestern, Florida, Baylor, Miami (FL), USC, Stanford, Georgia Tech and Georgia.

Conference Count: Men's Top 25: SEC – 7; ACC – 6; Pac-10 – 5; Big 12 and Big Ten – 3; Big East and WCC - 1. Five different conferences placed at least one team in the top 10, with three Pac-10 schools from the state of California (USC, UCLA and Stanford) claiming three of the top 10 spots. Women’s Top 25: ACC and SEC – 7; Pac-10 – 6; Big Ten – 2; Big 12, Big East and MWC – 1. The top six spots are each filled by a team from a different conference while four Pac-10 schools from the Golden State (California, USC, UCLA and Stanford) are among the top 12.

Twice as Nice: Thirteen schools have both their men’s and women’s programs ranked inside this week’s top 25.

On Their Way to UVA: The matchups have been set for the 16 teams competing in the 2010 ITA National Men's Team Indoor Championships. The University of Virginia will host the 36^th annual Championships at the Boar’s Head Sports Club, February 12 – 15.

Alabama: Currently ranked #19 in the Campbell/ITA College Tennis Rankings with victories over #22 Duke and #23 Arizona. The Crimson Tide have two players ranked in singles (#62 Saketh Myeni and #123 Michael Thompson). The doubles team of Crieghton Blanchard/Michael Davis is also ranked #39.

First Round Matchup: No. 15 Alabama vs. No. 2 Virginia

Baylor: Currently ranked #5 in the Campbell/ITA College Tennis Rankings with victories over #11 Florida, #39 TCU and #58 Iowa. The Bears have one player ranked in singles (#11 Jordan Rux), who is also ranked #11 in doubles with Maros Horny. The duo of Julian Bley/Attilo Bucko is also ranked #38.

First Round Matchup: No. 6 Baylor vs. No. 11 Florida

Florida: Currently ranked #12 in the Campbell/ITA College Tennis Rankings with victories over #41 Georgia Tech and #59 Furman. The Gators have one player ranked in singles (#7 Alexandre Lacroix), who is also ranked #10 in doubles with Antoine Benneteau.

First Round Matchup: No. 11 Florida vs. No. 6 Baylor

Fresno State: Currently ranked #30 in the Campbell/ITA College Tennis Rankings with victories over #17 Texas A&M, #32 Rice and #75 Pacific. The Bulldogs have two teams ranked in doubles (#20 Mirko Zapletal/Taylor Leiby and #36 Rikus de Villiers/Remi Boutillier).

First Round Matchup: No. 16 Fresno State vs. No. 1 USC

Georgia: Currently ranked #7 in the Campbell/ITA College Tennis Rankings with victories over #21 North Carolina, #38 Northwestern, and #41 Georgia Tech and #72 USC Upstate. The Bulldogs have two players ranked in singles (#45 Javier Garrapiz and #60 Drake Bernstein).

First Round Matchup: No. 7 Georgia vs. No. 10 Ole Miss

Illinois: Currently ranked #13 in the Campbell/ITA College Tennis Rankings with victories over #20 Virginia Tech, #22 Duke and #24 Washington. The Illini have one player ranked in singles (#43 Dennis Nevolo) who is also ranked #2 in doubles with Marek Czerwinski.

First Round Matchup: No. 12 Illinois vs. No. 5 Tennessee

Kentucky: Currently ranked #10 in the Campbell/ITA College Tennis Rankings with victories over #6 Virginia, #15 Wake Forest and #36 Michigan. The Wildcats have two players ranked in singles (#8 Eric Quigley and #39 Alex Musialek) and the duo of Quigley/Brad Cox is ranked #9 in doubles.
