Florida, USC Hold Down Top Spots in Campbell/ITA College Tennis Rankings

SKILLMAN, N.J. - After opening the 2012 spring season on top of the Campbell/ITA College Tennis Rankings, the Florida women and USC men held on to their No. 1 rankings this week. The Gators will get their dual match season started on Wed., Jan. 25 with a home match against Troy, while the Trojans are set to host UNC Wilmington, South Florida, and UNLV this weekend as part of ITA Kick-Off Weekend.

Follow the Leader: For the men, following USC is (in order): Virginia, Ohio State, Georgia, Florida, Stanford, Kentucky, Baylor, UCLA and Duke. On the women's side, Florida is followed by: Stanford, Duke, UCLA, Baylor, Georgia, Cal, North Carolina, Virginia and Michigan.

Conference Count: Men's Top 25: SEC - 7; Big 12 - 5; Pac-12 and ACC - 4; Big Ten - 3; Conference USA and West Coast - 1. Five different conferences placed at least one team in the Top 10, with the SEC and Pac-12 leading the way with three teams each featured in the Top 10 spots. Women's Top 25: ACC - 7; SEC - 6; Pac 12 - 5; Big 12 - 3; Big East - 1; Big Ten - 2; Big East and Conference USA - 1. Five different conferences also placed at least one team in the Top 10, with the Pac-12 and ACC placing three teams each inside the Top 10.

Double Dip: This week 15 schools have both their men's and women's programs ranked inside the Campbell/ITA Top 25 Rankings.

Kicking Off 2012: The 2012 ITA Kick-Off Weekend features 15 men's and 15 women's host sites with four teams at each site vying to advance to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships. The 15 women's teams to win both matches during Kick-Off Weekend will advance to the 2012 ITA National Women's Team Indoor Championship, slated for Feb. 10-13. The 15 men's teams to win both matches will advance to the 2012 ITA National Men's Team Indoor Championship, which will take place Feb. 17-20. Both events will be hosted by the University of Virginia at the Boar's Head Sports Club in Charlottesville, Va.
