Trojans Remain No. 1 After Impressive Opening Weekend in Pac-12
SKILLMAN, N.J. - Last weekend marked the beginning of conference play for the USC men, as the Trojans swept through the Bay Area. USC did not surrender a point to Stanford, beating the Cardinal 7-0 in Palo Alto. The Trojans followed up that result with a 5-2 victory over Cal in Berkeley. On the women's side, the rankings remain the same for another week, as a new poll will not be published this week with the 2012 ITA National Women's Team Indoor Championship to begin Friday morning at the Boar's Head Sports Club in Charlottesville, Va.
Follow the Leader: Following USC is (in order): Virginia, Ohio State, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, Baylor, UCLA, Stanford and Duke.
Conference Count: Men's Top 25: SEC - 7; Big 12 - 5; Pac-12 - 4; ACC and Big Ten - 3; West Coast - 2; Conference USA - 1. Five different conferences placed at least one team in the top 10, with the Pac-12 and SEC leading the way with three teams each.
On the Way to UVA: The University of Virginia will host both the ITA Men's and Women's National Team Indoor Championships at the Boar's Head Sports Club, located in Charlottesville, Virginia. Baylor, Cal, Clemson, Duke, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Miami, Michigan, North Carolina, Northwestern, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas, UCLA, USC and Virginia will all be competing for the 2012 ITA Women's National Team Indoor Championship Feb. 10-13. Auburn, Baylor, Cal, Duke, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Ohio State, Pepperdine, Stanford, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, UCLA, USC and Virginia will all be vying for the 2012 ITA Men's National Team Indoor Championship Feb. 17-20.
Coming Up Next: The 2012 Campbell/ITA Team Rankings continue next Tuesday, February 14th, with a new set of women's rankings; there will be no new men's team rankings next week. Singles and doubles rankings are also set to be published on the 14th and will be released every other week after that.
