UCLA, USC Hang on to No. 1 Spots in Campbell/ITA Team Rankings Heading into NCAAs
Bruins, Trojans earn top seeds in NCAA Tournament
**NOTE** These rankings were run on Monday, April 30 after the completion of all conference tournaments.
SKILLMAN, N.J. - Heading into the 2012 NCAA DI Men's and Women's Tennis Championships, the UCLA women and USC men continue to sit atop the Campbell/ITA College Tennis Rankings. The Bruins were able to hold off Florida to earn the top overall seed in the NCAA DI Women's Championship, while the Trojans maintained a healthy distance from the rest of the field in being chosen as the No. 1 seed in the NCAA DI Men's Championship. Per NCAA rule, all 16 teams on the men's and women's side were selected as host sites for First and Second Round action. Follow the Leader: For the men, following USC is (in order): Virginia, Georgia, UCLA, Ohio State, Kentucky, Pepperdine, Duke, Mississippi State and Oklahoma. On the women's side, UCLA is followed by: Florida, Duke, USC, Stanford, Georgia, North Carolina, Alabama, California and Texas.
Conference Count: The number of men's and women's teams from each conference that appear in the Campbell/ITA Division I Top 25 Rankings are listed numerically. Men's Top 25: SEC - 8; Big 12 and Pac-12 - 4; ACC and Big Ten - 3; Conference USA, Ivy League and WCC - 1. The SEC placed three teams in the top 10 of this week's poll. Women's Top 25: ACC, Big Ten and SEC - 5; Big 12 and Pac-12 - 4; Big East and Conference USA - 1. All four of the Pac-12 teams ranked in the top 25 landed inside the top 10 this week, including three in the top five.
Double Dip: A total of 17 schools have placed both their men's and women's teams in this week's Campbell/ITA Rankings top 25. Duke, Georgia, UCLA and USC find both their men's and women's teams in the top 10 this week.
