With a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Florida Atlantic’s Aliona Bolsova in the women’s singles final, Contreras became the first player from Vanderbilt to win the Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Singles Championship. The junior is also the first unseeded player to claim the #RivieraITA title since 2013, and 10th overall.
Contreras, who advanced out of the qualifying draw, defeated three players ranked in the Top 25 of the Oracle ITA Collegiate Tennis Division I Women’s National Preseason Singles Rankings. Two of those wins were against the tournament’s No. 4 seed and fifth-ranked Karla Popovic of Cal, and No. 2 seed and second-ranked Gabriela Talaba of Texas Tech.
